Jukeboxes have a limited range at which they can be heard, meaning if you have a large base, there will be areas in which you can't hear the music disc you started playing. If jukeboxes could be hooked up to note blocks via redstone, the note blocks could be used as speakers, extending the range of the jukebox. This would allow players who to be able to listen to their selected music disc far beyond the current range of the jukebox.
