I propose modifying the current survival mode to make it slightly more difficult and realistic, while also adding a new game mode.
In this mode—much like in the existing Adventure Mode—you cannot simply break blocks with just anything; you must use the appropriate tool.
At the start, the player would receive a bonus chest containing a wooden axe, allowing them to chop down their first tree.
Alternatively, the game could allow players to break grass and leaves to obtain sticks; these sticks could then be used to break blocks, though the blocks themselves wouldn't drop as items.
In other words, you wouldn't be able to mine dirt or stone with a stick, but you could harvest wood to craft the necessary tools.
This would add complexity to the existing survival experience. Meanwhile, the standard survival mode could be renamed "Casual Mode," given that the current version isn't truly about survival in the strict sense.
Additionally, the F3 debug menu would be disabled in this mode, making the crafting of "useless" items—like compasses and clocks—actually useful.
The compass would display coordinates (similar to a map), while the clock would show the current in-game day count.
Following the concept of the Recovery Compass, a "Recovery Clock" could also be added to track the number of days survived since the player's last death.
