After the release of the Wilderness Bound update (26.3), which introduced the Mottled Forest and camps, I propose improving the image of the Wandering Trader.
Instead of just wandering around, the trader and his llamas should set up a small tent camp before sunset, provided that the terrain is flat and there are no other players’ structures within a 50‑block radius.
Key mechanics:
1. Trading based on the biome: his inventory is tied to the biome in which he appears. In the Mottled Forest, he can sell poplar seedlings, red bushes, or camping equipment.
2. Dynamic camp setup and a backup option: he tries to set up a tent at dusk. If there isn’t enough space or other players’ structures are located too close, he follows the standard procedure: at night he drinks an invisibility potion, and in the morning — milk.
3. Setup depending on the time of day: the tent is set up just before sunset, simulating how he settles in for the night.
4. Aesthetics: white panels hang at the entrance, resembling cozy curtains that separate the interior space from the exterior.
5. Restrictions: Before setting up the tent, the Wandering Trader checks whether there are any tents within 100-200 blocks. If there are, he drinks an invisibility potion and runs there to sleep.
This creates an incredible atmosphere, making encounters with the trader feel like special, lively events and perfectly complementing the new theme of wildlife!
