Let the glowstone dim, but never go out completely.

I propose a system where glowstone lights can dim over time but have their brightness restored using an axe—essentially adopting the mechanic used for copper bulbs.

Meanwhile, regular torches would go out—either due to water exposure or simply over time. This would make glowstone torches a more advantageous choice than standard ones.

However, even these would eventually dim, making them the ideal lighting choice for mines.

They could also be crafted using regular coal and lapis lazuli instead of glowstone—as if imbuing an ordinary torch with a magical, glowing power.
