Since Minecraft is about a World of Blocks and it's "Build, Explore Survive" I think Minecraft should stay as it's identity for the future of Minecraft.
for example, Minecraft is a Indie game and it also takes roots from games in total that has brought these topics like Minecraft Java, Minecraft Pocket Edition (Bedrock), Minecraft Console Edition these games are supposed to and it's identity is not C++, Minecraft's Identity is supposed to run on Java.
Considering how Alpha looked as a Indie game it felt very presence including during Minecraft Story Mode in the beginning of it.
I think if you want to secure the future of Minecraft you should overwrite and merge and get rid of these "extra digital license" games and get rid of these delisted games entirely without them "showing up" on the store and stuff like that.
and instead focus on the Identity of Minecraft and it's future. so why not merge Minecraft Console Edition, Java, and Bedrock considering there identity is ran on "Java" and C++ was only meant to work on phones and I think to really fix your problems about old devices is to leave the games playable for those versions that don't support crossplay since Bedrock - Windows and Pocket Edition, and Console Edition (Java).
if your really thinking about the future of Minecraft then you should've thought about this in the first place.
and instead of these "extra game editions" you should just overwrite them
just use Java and use Trailer, Classic, Vanilla, & Dungeons, Legends Stuff
