Trouble with lagging

As I play the game it won't stop lagging, every few steps and the game completely freezes, and once it's playable I'm already killed by a zombie, skeleton or creeper.

    Yep. used to be the same fur me.

    It can be really frustrating.

    However I just got the modrinth app, Witch has performance mods galore. 

    Specificly I think sodium could help with what youre deeling with.
