I propose renaming the current Survival mode to "Casual." This mode would be for players launching the game for the first time; aside from the name, it would be identical to the standard mode.
Then, add a new Survival mode that is significantly more difficult than the current one. This mode could introduce thirst and temperature mechanics. Mobs would be smarter, and stronger versions of them would spawn.
The stamina (hunger) system and the entire combat system should be overhauled.
Also, without using cheats, it should be possible to switch a world from Casual to Survival mode by meeting a specific condition—such as defeating the Ender Dragon or the Wither—since most players stop playing after beating them.
However, switching the world back to Casual mode without cheats or backups shouldn't be possible. That said, a command could be added to revert the world to Casual mode, but it would load the save exactly as it was before the changes associated with Survival mode took effect.
I understand that most players want a relaxing experience from modern survival games. But some people want a real challenge—to actually *survive*. And I’m not talking about "hardcore" modes where a single accident means losing your entire world; that’s incredibly frustrating.
I realize there are mods available, but they are just mods—only a handful of people know about them. If these same mechanics were built directly into the game, though, that would be something to be proud of.
