Vertical Slabs! - How to craft.

I've heard you didn't know how to implement the vertical slabs, because you couldn't think of an idea how to craft them, my idea is to make something like the Stonecutter, but made for other blocks (wood, blocks of ???, magma blocks etc.), and that could make the only way to craft a Vertical Slab, it would give the stonecutter and other types of material cutters a use, because i don't think anyone uses the stonecutter except for getting tons of slabs or stairs
