In recent updates, the world creation screen features the unified "Allow Commands: ON/OFF" toggle under World Options. In Hardcore mode, commands are already locked off by default to guarantee the mode's integrity. However, standard Survival mode still lacks any built-in way to permanently lock commands off.
The Problem & Integrity of Survival: Survival mode relies heavily on long-term progression, risk, and authentic achievement. When a player encounters a setback—such as losing valuable items in lava or a creeper blast—having the ability to easily toggle "Allow Commands: ON" creates a strong temptation trap. Giving in to a quick /tp or /give often destroys the player's sense of accomplishment and ruins their long-term emotional connection to that world.
Currently, players who want a strictly cheat-free environment without permadeath are forced into awkward workarounds, such as creating a Hardcore world and using custom datapacks to prevent death deletion. This is unintuitive and inaccessible to casual players.
Proposed Feature:
-
Lock Commands Toggle: Add a lock icon or confirmation toggle next to "Allow Commands" in the World Options screen (similar to the existing "Lock Difficulty" mechanic).
-
Hardcore Parity for Survival: Bring the same cheat-proofing mechanics found in Hardcore to regular Survival, allowing players to commit to a legit playthrough without forcing permadeath.
