I suggest adding Acid Rain as a rare environmental event in the Nether. During the event, acidic rain would fall in specific Nether areas, creating a new environmental hazard for players.
Players exposed to Acid Rain would gradually take damage, while equipped armor would slowly lose durability. The damage should be moderate, giving players enough time to find shelter rather than making the event instantly lethal.
Netherite armor would be immune to the armor-damaging effect, giving it an additional advantage while keeping other armor sets useful. A new Potion of Acid Resistance could also be introduced, temporarily protecting the player from both the damage and armor durability loss caused by Acid Rain.
The event should be relatively rare and limited to specific areas rather than affecting the entire Nether. Players could recognize an approaching storm through darker reddish skies, unique particles, and a distinctive environmental sound.
Shelters, caves, and enclosed structures would protect players from the rain.
This feature would make Nether exploration more dynamic and encourage players to prepare for environmental dangers. Instead of increasing difficulty simply by adding stronger mobs, Acid Rain would make the Nether itself feel more hostile, dangerous, and unpredictable, while giving players new reasons to prepare, explore, and use Netherite equipment.
