The crystal valley is a rare biome found in caves. As the name suggests, it is a long, hollow area of a cave with a large body of water down the middle, filled with glowing, highly reflective (in vibrant visuals), brilliant blue-white crystals called lumite, mainly on the ceiling, as well as blocks of these crystals, especially in the water.
No hostile mobs can spawn in the crystal valley.
Lumite crystals emit a light level of 8 on their own. 4 of them Can be crafted into a lumite block, which emits a light level of 10 instead. Similarly to potent sulfur, lumite blocks have a special effect when placed under a water source block. They cause the water to emit light, at a light level of 8 per block, like lumite crystals, and the water gains reflective and emissive properties in vibrant visuals. In addition, the underwater lumite blocks can slowly grow lumite crystals.
Lumite crystals can be brewed with a mundane potion to create a potion of illumination, which gives all affected entities the luminous status effect, which causes them to emit a light level of 8. The base potion of illumination gives luminous I for 2:30, and the extended duration version for 4:00. The strengthened version gives luminous II, which increases the light level emitted to 12, for 1:30. This is intended as a balanced way to add dynamic lightning to Minecraft, requiring finding a rare biome and getting blaze rods from a nether fortress.
Salmon, cod, and glow squid spawn in this biome.
