Instead of a black wood

I feel like a lot of people would love black fences shelves and whatever else, for shaping and detailing. Though im unsure if another wood type would really make people happy. So i thought maybe utilizing the blast furnaces you could put in your your wooden items and it would char(?) them, thus not being too time consuming, farmable and user friendly without having to add a whole new biome or wood type.
