Proximity voice chat is one of the features the Minecraft community has been asking for again and again. I’ve seen many players already make suggestions about it, which shows how much people want this feature.
For the current native PS5 version of Minecraft Bedrock, I think an optional proximity voice chat could completely change multiplayer.
Imagine exploring a huge cave with your friends. Instead of hearing someone perfectly no matter where they are, their voice would become quieter as they move away, with a natural echo depending on the environment. You could hear your friend calling you from somewhere deeper in the cave, making exploration feel completely different.
The same could happen in villages, forests, mountains or large open areas. Meeting another player in the world would feel much more natural because you could actually hear them approaching.
This would not simply be a voice chat feature. It would create a whole new way to experience Minecraft and make the world feel much more alive.
It should include mute, block, volume, push-to-talk, privacy and parental control options.
Please consider adding native proximity voice chat to Bedrock, especially on PS5. The community clearly wants it, and it could bring a completely new multiplayer experience to Minecraft.
