Missing block variants: stones...

Why does Minecraft's block variants have such inconsistencies!? for example, purpur has pillars, which only one other stone has, yet it does not have any other variants!! I think every stone should have bricks, cracked bricks, tiles, cracked tiles, chiseled, chiseled bricks, cobbled, polished, smooth, pillar, ores and mossy variants. All these except ores should come in slab, stair and wall variants. Many people wish for this same addition and it would add more possibilities for building.
