The way armor trims are duplicated is a little strange. There isn’t really any crafting recipe that is similar in Minecraft, and it doesn’t feel unique or fun.
Perhaps we should introduce the Trimming Table or Patterning Table. It would function as a new way to duplicate trims that would be more immersive and it could be done more quickly.
It would have three slots. One for the pattern you with to duplicate. One for the material you use to duplicate (e.g., popped chorus fruit, netherrack, mossy cobblestone, etc.). And one for a new item called a blank pattern.
A blank pattern would be crafted with 4 amethyst blocks, 4 diamonds, and one stone of any variant. The blank pattern and material would be consumed. The trim you are duplicating would not be. It would just stay in the table until you closed the GUI or took it out.
This could also give us a potential for a new villager profession if it seemed right to do at the time. Perhaps they could trade for things like stone variants, items that can be used as trim materials, blank patterns, and maybe even a new unique armor trim!
Obviously, the villager would be a larger update than just the table. But I think the table on its own would improve the game both mechanically and aesthetically.
