Flowing rivers

I think it would be cool if there where actual flowing rivers in the Minecraft world that actually flow down to the ocean/downstream. It would also be cool if they eroded nearby terrain more clearly, so a river might go through a mountain or cave. Because the rivers would be flowing downstream it would be necessary for boats to get an upgrade to, that makes traversing slightly upwards water streams possible.
