This idea proposes a new use for cauldrons which will also provide a new dynamic behaviour for witches.
Firstly this idea would require the parity of having cauldrons hold potions in Java like they do in bedrock.
The idea is that a cauldron is filled up with a potion, and when lapis lazuli is dropped in, the cauldron emits that potions affect around the area. For example; if a cauldron was filled with a swiftness potion than had lapis dropped in, players and mobs within range of the cauldron would get the swiftness affect for as long as the potion lasts. This also works with negative potions like poison. When the time limit is reached, the effect wears of and the potion evaporates.
One last gimmick is that witches can also make use of it. When fighting a player a witch can fill up a cauldron and through in lapis to create the same effect, with the added bonus that witches are naturally immune to the negative potion affects whilst still reaping the positive ones (this part only applies to affects emitted from cauldrons.) In conclusion I feel this would be a very versatile mechanic as it basically produces an area of effect that can be used in PvP or storytelling etc, as well as making witches more interesting to fight.
