Currently in both Bedrock and Java, while status effects tell you what your player is being affected by (poison, jump boost, etc.) and how much time the effect will last, you are never told where you got the effect from. This leads to scenarios where new and old player players alike are missing important context on where any negative (or positive) effects which they were given came from and how to work around them.
For example, a player might be fighting a horde of various kinds of mobs in a snowy biome when suddenly they find they can't sprint anymore because they have the "slowness" effect. If the game told them that the affect came from an arrow shot by a stray, they would be able to better plan any future encounters with strays.
This feature also solves both the problem above and the issue that that's been frequently raised in another feedback post about allowing the beacon beam to be hidden when tinted glass is placed over it. "How will a new player know where they suddenly got a status effect from if beacon beams are made invisible"? With this new change a player will automatically know it comes from a nearby beacon, the only thing they have to do is find it.
