Note blocks are amazing for in-game music, but they are heavily limited by having a fixed volume and no way to hold or fade out a note. I propose adding the Soundbox, a resource-friendly utility block designed to sit directly on top of a note block to give players total audio control without replacing the original block mechanics.
How It Works:
- Placement: It must be placed directly on top of a note block. It modifies whatever instrument or note the block underneath is playing.
- Volume Control (Redstone): It reads incoming redstone signals (1 to 15) to dynamically change the note's volume from 33% up to 300%. A signal of 0 or 8 plays the default 100% volume.
- Sustain/Resonance (Interactivity): Right-clicking the Soundbox toggles a "resonance mode." When active, notes do not cut off instantly; instead, they have a logarithmic decay that fades out slowly, mimicking a piano’s sustain pedal.
Crafting Recipe:
- Top Row: Copper Ingot | Wool | Copper Ingot
- Middle Row: Redstone Comparator | Calibrated Sculk Sensor | Redstone Repeater
- Bottom Row: Oak Slab | Oak Slab | Oak Slab
(Change to however deemed fit)
This addition would open up incredible possibilities for compact, expressive, and deeply dynamic redstone music or sound design in Minecraft!
