Progress bar for block breaking speed

It would be great to have a visual progress bar when breaking blocks, similar to the attack cooldown indicator introduced in 1.9. Currently, we only have crack textures, which can be hard to judge on slow blocks like obsidian. A small progress bar or icon near the crosshair would make mining much clearer and more satisfying!
