Abandoned Waystations
I think Minecraft could use a new rare structure: Abandoned Waystations.
Abandoned Camps are a great addition, but tents don't fit as well in biomes like Deserts and Snowy Plains. Waystations could solve this while adding more variety to open biomes.
They would generate rarely in Plains, Snowy Plains, Deserts and Badlands.
A Waystation would be a small multi-structure: a central structure with a bell, with four smaller structures extending in the four cardinal directions. These could include a resting area, storage, shelter and cooking area. The design would change depending on the biome.
For example:
- Plains: wooden traveler camp
- Snowy Plains: enclosed shelter with spruce and campfires
- Desert: sandstone caravan stop with shaded areas
- Badlands: rough mining outpost
Waystations would contain better loot than Abandoned Camps, off course.
Most importantly, I think they could create an exploration chain:
Abandoned Camp → Abandoned Waystation → Ancient City
Abandoned Camps could have a small chance to contain a map leading to a Waystation. Waystations could then contain an Ancient City Explorer Map.
This would make finding an Ancient City feel like an actual expedition instead of simply getting a map from a small camp. It would also give Abandoned Camps an additional purpose and make exploration through large open biomes more rewarding.
abandoned stuff in a nothingness it’s so atmospheric.
