Update on elytra

I was playing Minecraft on Nintendo Switch 2 Bedrock edition 26.2 in survival mode when my Elytra broke, I was flying around a large mountain biome, specifically gravelly windswept hills, when it broke no big deal, I have mending. But then I fell off of a decent size cliff, and my elytra broke for real. I could not get them back and worst of all the nearest stronghold is 2000 blocks away from spawnpoint. With this I was quite upset but then I had an idea. The elytra has not been updated in a little over ten years. I think it is about time the elytra has an update. So I came up with the idea of the "Reinforced Elytra" and this what I think it could have: 1  It's Double the durability of the regular elytra. 2 It could provide some protection ,providing armor. And 3 because this elytra is "reinforced" it would be heavier! so maybe you lose a little more altitude without rockets than the regular elytra. How you would craft this item would be like this, Elytra in the middle 4 shulker shells on all 4 sides, with a new end ore filling in the corners. This item would be hard to get but it would be worth it.
