Leash animals from a distance using a lead like a cowboy

Lately I've been struggling with how hard it is to leash a happy ghast when it starts flying away from you. I think it would be cool if holding the right-click with the lead while you don’t have a target made the player spin the lead like a cowboy, so you could use that to leash a mob that’s out of reach. There would be an animation and then the lead would be thrown and if it hit a target, it would leashed it.
