Minecraft's newer weapons, such as the Spear and Mace, have shown how much new combat variety can come from giving weapons distinct roles. I propose adding the Scythe, a unique Nether weapon focused on large-area melee combat.
The Scythe would deal high damage per hit (around 8), have a very slow attack speed, and reach 3-4 blocks in a wide 180° sweep. Its attack would have a noticeable wind-up and recoil, making it powerful against groups but requiring careful timing.
Unique enchantments could include:
Sanguine: Killing enemies restores health, with a limit per attack.
Repulse: Allows the player to redirect incoming projectiles. Timing is required, but the Scythe's large reach makes it more forgiving. Reflected projectiles retain their original properties.
The Scythe should have a unique acquisition method like Minecraft's other unique items: Tridents come from rare enemies, Elytra from rare exploration, and Maces from difficult structure challenges. Since the Scythe would be a Nether-exclusive unique weapon, I propose a rare enemy that can spawn in Soulsand Valleys when a player is at critical health. This enemy would wield the Scythe and have a chance to drop it when defeated.
The goal is to create a slow, high-risk AoE weapon with a unique acquisition encounter rather than simply another craftable melee weapon.
