The Fletching Table currently has no functionality. I propose turning it into a dedicated arrow-crafting station.
Custom arrows would have 3 components: Head, Shaft, and Fletching. Each component would affect different properties, and players could freely combine one material from each category.
Heads affect arrow's impact. Flint is base; Iron increases damage, adds weight/drag; Amethyst provides armor penetration; Copper/Gold/Prismarine have specialized mob damage.
Shafts affect physical behavior. Stick is base; Bamboo trades damage for a lighter projectile; Bone increases knockback, more drag; Breeze Rod greatly reduces gravity, drag but also damage; Blaze Rod creates a small non-block-breaking explosion on impact.
Fletchings affect flight. Feather is base; Kelp greatly reduces liquid drag; Phantom Membrane increases initial velocity, reduces air drag; Popped Chorus provides minor homing; Echo Shards allow arrows to pass through blocks, very high air drag.
These properties should be stored as components on the arrow item rather than requiring a separate item for every combination. Existing projectile attributes should be reused where possible, with new attributes added only when necessary. The arrow's appearance could change based on its materials.
Custom arrows should remain compatible with Infinity and Tipped Arrows while retaining their existing properties. A Quiver could provide ~5 slots and allow players to rapidly switch between selected ammunition types during combat.
