Whips are weapons of momentum and precision, which is why we should add them to Minecraft!
the crafting recipe would have something to do with a stick for the stock/handle, leather for the flexible part, tipped with the the basic weapon materials.
Whips will work differently from the Java Edition than the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft .
On both versions:
the whip's damage will scale based on how far the player is from the target.
On Java:
On a fully charged attack, you can flick your camera to deal somewhere close to the spear's damage while having a little more range than it.
The strength of the flick does have a maximum damage output to prevent insane damage via macros or really high sensitivity.
The player can spam click, but only doing an attack every 1/2 charge but the damage basically scales with the durability of the armor all together, with a very low maximum of damage, which encourages backup armor in battle.
On Bedrock:
Same as java spam clicking, but pierces some level of protection, small but good.
The max durability should be pretty low, as it's very strong and if it's close to breaking, using bottles o' enchanting would make the player vulnerable, and also give time for the opponent to run, attack, or heal
their armor up.
Perhaps If you manage to hit a player who's using an elytra you cancel their flight and counter the elytra spear combo.
The elytra also becomes unusable during charged attacks which nerfs it heavily, but to a good degree.
