This creature answers the question: "what if we combine Happy Ghast with Floatater (from 24w14potato)?"
Like Happy Ghast, it has collision on its back, acting as a moving island. Inspired by World Turtle myth, the Drifter expands this concept by allowing players to put blocks on its back! However, blocks cannot be placed or broken when the Drifter is moving, just like Floatater. Interact with its antenna to make it stop or resume drifting.
The Drifter is a giant, feathery creature with a shelled back. Four openings line its sides, with its eyes emerging from the one facing its direction of travel. Its back measures 16x16 blocks, providing enough space to make its back your wandering base. A personal ark!
Drifters spawn at Peak biome in a late-game dimension. They must first be tamed before you build on their backs, otherwise they get aggressive. Breeding two Drifters produces an egg that can be carried with a bucket of powder snow. The egg can then be hatched in any biome or dimension, allowing players to raise a Drifter anywhere. The adult Drifters however, they can't travel through portals.
You don't control Drifters like traditional mounts. Instead, you set their course by turning their antenna into the desired direction: up or down, left or right. A Drifter will go on indefinitely in that direction until it hits a block or is redirected. Drifters move at a constant pace of player's walking speed. Attaching baby Drifters with lead increases the travel speed.
