Expansion of Gardening and Agricultural Crops
Minecraft has a limited number of crops: carrots, potatoes, wheat, beetroot, melons, pumpkins and sweet berries. Adding new plants and berries would expand farming, cooking and landscape projects.
Problem: Most crops use the same mechanic: till soil, place water and plant. This becomes repetitive. Sweet berries have limited uses, gardening is mostly for decoration and animal breeding, and farming players need more variety.
New Crops: Tomatoes could add a new mechanic: players build a support from wooden fences and use string for the plant to grow on. Tomatoes could appear in villages with gardens.
Corn could become a tall crop similar to sugar cane, creating unique fields in plains biomes. It could be cooked using a smoker or campfire.
New Berry Crops: Strawberries and raspberries could appear in oak forests, adding life and early-game food. Blueberries could appear in swamps and mountains, adding vegetation. Cherries could occasionally drop from cherry tree leaves. Berries could restore 0.5–1 hunger points.
New Soil: Add loose soil, created by using a shovel on dirt twice. Forest berries could grow on it.
New Food: Berry jam could be crafted from sugar, water and berries, restoring 3–4 hunger points or giving small effects like regeneration. Berry pie could work similarly to pumpkin pie.
Benefits: Expands gardening, improves biomes, gives more reasons to explore, improves farming mechanics and adds food recipes.
