I'm not certain if this has been said yet but I think Minecraft should add more biome variants/sub biomes using existing resources. The world doesn't feel very dynamic when specific trees are reserved to a single biome (cherry blossom/dark oak/mangrove) or a biome theme (taiga/savanna) while oak and birch trees exist in various biomes and their variants.
I think it'd be good to add biome variations. For example:
- Flower Forest variations that are counterparts to existing biomes (cherry blossom, dark oak, taiga, savanna).
- Plains variants that are savanna/cherry blossom/dark oak/swamp themed.
- Desert variants to add new exploration to desert areas instead of sand and dead bushes. A great example is the Sonoran Desert (especially in spring).
- New in between biomes that make going from one climate to another more atmospheric. Like going from a birch forest to progressively muddier and wetter biomes until you find a Mangrove swamp.
This also gives players more methods of collecting flowers/sapling without finding one very specific biome while giving them a more unique world.
Additionally there's a lot of potential for mountain/hill variants using different stone types. Calcite cliffs resembling the Cliffs of Dover or a Valley/Beach variant resembling natural basalt columns.
