Currently, milk buckets only remove debuff effects. While that's useful, drinking an entire bucket of milk doesn't restore any hunger, which feels inconsistent. Other foods in Minecraft, including sweet berries, restore hunger despite being far less nutritious in real life.
Milk has been an important source of nutrition throughout human history. Many pastoral and nomadic cultures survived for centuries relying heavily on milk and dairy products as staples of their diet. Giving milk a modest hunger restoration would make survival gameplay feel more immersive while reflecting its real world nutritional value.
To prevent milk from becoming an infinite food source, cows could have a milking cooldown of one or two minutes before they can be milked again. This would keep the feature balanced while giving players another practical reason to keep cows besides leather, beef, and removing status effects.
This change would make survival mode more realistic, expand the usefulness of milk, and add a small but meaningful quality of life improvement without disrupting game balance.
