A new mini-boss, the Necromancer, can be found in the Overworld and the Nether. After defeating the Necromancer, you have the chance to obtain his staff. The staff does nothing on its own, as it requires a spell. The spell is crafted from paper and lapis lazuli. Other ingredients can be added to modify the spell: a fire charge creates a spell that deals heavy damage but is slow, while flint transforms the spell into an arrow—dealing less damage but moving faster and behaving differently. You must use an anvil to combine the spell with the staff; the staff holds a single spell. Using the spell consumes experience.
