Disable mob despawning

I'm trying to build a zoo in Minecraft but my animals keep on despawning. I have tried to nametag all of them but they still despawned. I want a setting that can disable mob despawning entirely. It is so annoying.

    Same here. Mobs keep despawning even if you put a name tag them, leash them and cage them. It happens just randomly.

    Why cage animals? Kind of sad for them. Unless of course, you have built a big enclosure though. Kind of unrelated.

    Exactly! I'm trying to build an adventure map, but all the enemies I add get despawned whenever I leave, even when I nametag them. I don't know what to do because this is essential to my map.

    Dude, it's very annoying! We named them and everything then they just disappear! I mean you can't stay in the same trunk and play the game I mean come on
