To the Mojang Design Team,
I propose a concept for a passive mob matching Mojang’s core philosophies: conservation, real-world educational value, and ethical gameplay. The idea centers on the European Hamster (Cricetus cricetus), a critically endangered species.
🐹 1. Wild vs. Tamed
Wild hamsters spawn rarely in Plains/Forest biomes. They are skittish and feature a dark belly. Players tame them using pumpkin or melon seeds. Taming transforms their texture into a classic domestic hamster.
🎒 2. Mechanics & Utility
Cheek Storage: Tamed hamsters have a 4-slot inventory for seeds, nuggets, and berries. Their cheeks visibly puff up while carrying items.
Base Collector: Left free, they pick up dropped seeds or berries and deposit them in one spot.
Greed Mechanic: Items left in cheeks >3 mins get eaten (1 item/30s). Once full, they sleep. Inedible items like gold nuggets are spat out.
Anti-Cage Welfare: Confining a hamster in <3x3 blocks displays stress particles (grey clouds) and stops interaction, promoting proper pet care.
🌾 3. Rare Block: Burrowed Humus
Burrows near tree roots create Burrowed Humus. Collected intact with Silk Touch (otherwise dropping Dirt), this soil doubles crop growth speed when hoed/hydrated, encouraging exploration over cruel mob farming.
💡 Why It Fits
It aligns with ethical guidelines, raises awareness for an endangered species, and offers balanced agricultural utility.
Thank you for making Minecraft a place of discovery!
Best regards.
