Finding rare wood (like jungle or spruce) can cause frustrating, aimless ocean travel. To fix this, I propose "The Navigator Update," which introduces an optional world generation type and a tracking tool to reward intentional exploration.
New World Type: "Latitude Cycles"

Players can select this optional world type during creation. Biomes generate predictably along the Z-axis in a compressed wave pattern every 20,000 blocks:
- Z = 0: Equator (Jungle, Desert, Badlands)
- Z = 5,000: Temperate (Plains, Forests)
- Z = 10,000: Arctic Circle (Snowy Plains, Ice Spikes)
-
Z = 15,000: Back to Temperate, cycling back to the Equator at 20,000.
Players always know which direction to travel to find specific resource biomes without relying on pure luck.
New Item: The Redstone Thermometer
Crafted with a Glass Block (top), 3 Redstone Dust (middle column), and 4 Copper Ingots (sides). It acts like an in-game mercury thermometer:
Crafted with a Glass Block (top), 3 Redstone Dust (middle column), and 4 Copper Ingots (sides). It acts like an in-game mercury thermometer:
- At the Equator: The redstone tube fills to the top and glows brightly.
- In Temperate Zones: The level rests in the middle.
- In Arctic Circles: The line drops to the bottom and dims.
This keeps early-game safe, respects player travel time, and gives survival a realistic navigation mechanic without altering underground cave generation.
