I've also been looking at some seasons mods, and one thing they often get wrong is making all the leaves a single dull color. The vibrancy of the dappled leaves is one of the things I like about this biome. My bigger issue is the grass. In real life, the ground usually wouldn't just turn completely orange. I think a less saturated tan or green grass color with patches of orange leaf litter would look more natural.
If you're not going to change where the dappled forest spawns or how the ground looks, then I really think it needs villages. Otherwise villages are going to become much rarer. Right now the biome also feels a bit rushed because there's not much in it. There aren't any unique animals, village variants, or other autumn themed features. It feels like a cool visual idea, but at the moment it seems empty.
I don't think adding an autumn biome is a bad idea. I actually like the concept. I just think it needs more polish and content before it feels like a complete addition.
