Introduction:
I propose adding a new functional block to the game — the Dark Block. Unlike the light block, which emits light, this block will absorb ambient light, allowing players to create zones with artificial darkness even during the day.
What do you want to do? :
The block should work on the principle of the light block: the player places it and can change the "darkness" level by right-clicking. The power level should range from 0 to 15. At maximum power (15), the block should make the area around it completely black while the block is active.
Why is this necessary? :
Currently, it is impossible to create truly dark dungeons or traps in the game because the light level always tends to zero but does not make the picture completely black. This limits mapmakers and players building horror maps or quests. Adding this block will provide a new tool for adventure maps, allow for managing the spawning of hostile mobs without workarounds (filling a room with water or obsidian), and add an interesting technical element.
How should it work? :
-
Technically, the block should work as follows:
-
When placed, it has a power of 0 (no effect on light).
-
Right-clicking cyclically changes the power from 0 to 15 and back.
-
Importantly: the block should not generate darkness indefinitely (like the outdated shadow bug), but rather create a new mechanic for controlling the environment.
