For the purpose of this post, "Building Entities" will refer to Cushions, Armor Stands, Item Frames, and Paintings. (The same arguments can mostly be applied to Hanging Dripstone and Decorated Pots.)
When building with Building Entities in Minecraft, many new possibilities are achieved that are simply impossible with mere blocks. Paintings can sit inside carpets, cushions inside stairs, and armors stands have been used very creatively inside blocks in so many ways. Even outside of combining these vital entities with blocks, they add an important aesthetic touch to so many builds that cannot be achieved in any other way.
To transfer the spirit of building being persistent in Minecraft Creative to Survival Mode, the game is famously designed around one rule: If something goes wrong, it should be the player's fault. However, this rule is not well applied to Building Entities. A stray Skeleton's Arrow, Wind Charge, or even a player in Adventure Mode can destroy Building Entities. The blocks of the game are so prized and protected from accidental destruction, but the beloved Building Entities are not. They are a temporary, transient, and therefore tedious thing in a build, requiring constant maintenance.
To put it simply, repairing the same damage over and over, especially with Building Entities inside of blocks, which are difficult to place correctly, is not the purpose of Minecraft building.
