The Copper Anvil is a cheaper alternative to the Iron Anvil, crafted with copper blocks and copper ingots. It works like a normal anvil: repairing items, combining enchantments, and renaming tools. However, it has unique mechanics based on copper oxidation and durability.
The Copper Anvil oxidizes through four stages: Clean, Exposed, Weathered, and Oxidized. When fully oxidized, it becomes unusable. Players can scrape the oxidation with an axe, restoring the previous stage and making it functional again.
Using a honeycomb waxes the anvil, preventing oxidation entirely. A waxed Copper Anvil keeps its clean appearance and stable XP cost, but waxing does not stop durability damage.
The anvil has lower durability than the iron version. With heavy use, it develops cracks: Slightly Cracked and Very Cracked. Eventually, it breaks like a normal anvil. Oxidation and cracking are separate systems: oxidation can be removed with an axe, but cracks cannot be repaired.
This item adds meaningful gameplay to copper, gives axes and honeycombs new uses, and offers players a strategic choice: maintain the anvil through scraping, or wax it for stability. It fits perfectly with existing copper mechanics and provides a balanced, early‑game alternative to the Iron Anvil.
