Right now, the Dappled Forest's exclusivity hurts overworld exploration variety because everything introduced inside it is strictly trapped there. If a player finds an autumn forest, it should feel like a natural part of the world, not an isolated zone. By allowing Poplar Trees to occasionally mix into other temperate biomes, exploration becomes much more rewarding and refreshing. Shelf Mushrooms should also naturally spawn on old wood types like Birch and Dark Oak. Since the Dappled Forest already has the exclusive orange grass tint and heavy concentration of these items, it will still retain its unique identity even if the plants themselves are allowed to exist organically throughout the rest of our worlds.
I feel as though plants and trees shouldn't be exclusive unless there's a good reason, like Pale Oak or Resin generating in the Pale Garden where the Creaking provides a challenge to collect it. This change is a win-win because not only does it maintain the dedicated autumn forest, but it also makes the overworld look just a bit more unique and diverse, instead of every tree just being different shades of green. You can really take advantage of the coloured leaves here and the Shelf Mushrooms to make forests have more personality. Perhaps Old Growth Forests have larger amounts of Shelf Mushrooms that generate in comparison to other forests. This kind of change would go a long way.
