The Core Idea:
Canonically, the Nether is over 100°C (we know due to water evaporarion), yet players can walk around in heavy iron or diamond armor without any issues. I propose adding an Overheating Mechanic to the Nether (similar to the freezing mechanic in powder snow), along with clear survival counters: a new enchantment and a specialized armor upgrade.
How it works:
The Heat Danger: Entering the Nether in standard metal armor (Iron, Chainmail, Diamond) causes a "Heat Meter" to fill up. Once full, the player takes fire/heat damage over time because the metal literally cooks them. Gold and Leather armor could offer a small natural resistance.
New Enchantment: Thermoregulation
Can be applied to boots, leggings, or chestplates.
Extends the time it takes for the Heat Meter to fill up, giving players more time to explore without taking damage.
New Armor Upgrade: Copper-Plated or Amethyst-Infused Armor
Using the Smithing Table, players could combine their armor with Copper (excellent heat conductor to dissipate heat) or Amethyst Shards (for magical cooling).
This upgraded armor makes the player completely immune to environmental Nether overheating.
Why this is good for the game:
It adds a realistic and survival-focused challenge to the Nether. It gives a massive new utility to Copper/Amethyst (which currently lack deep gameplay mechanics) and creates a fun progression loop before players get full Netherite.
