Creative Mode Customizable 2x2 Blocks

It would be very useful for building in creative, such as mapmaking, if you could make 2x2x2 areas of blocks and using something that you would get through a /give command, shrink it down to a single block, essentially allowing you to customize all eight corners of a block and combine blocks. This would be very useful for mapmaking. It could also be something you give yourself through a command where you would set all the corners such as: /give @p condensed_block{corners: oak_planks, spruce_planks, jungle_planks, birch_planks, acacia_planks, dark_oak_planks, crimson_planks, warped_planks} which would give a block with all eight wood types in the corners.
