Current Dapple Forest generation is really sparse and disappointing. It's so odd a biome like this isn't something we can immerse ourselves and get lost in. The plains are in the background everywhere you look and its very is jarring. Hopefully, its due to testing and by the end is a proper sprawling biome and not a sub-biome, like pale garden even after its adjustments in a later update. Also, no one's talking about it but the dappled water color is amazing!
Since any new biomes we've gotten recently is a sub-version or the like, they don't have variants which rules out stuff like Dappled Old Growth with taller trees and another soil like orange moss, a Sparse Dappled Forest with less trees more foliage, like red shrub or new flowers, or a Dense version with clustered trees, tall fungi and podzol.
An off topic biome that could use an update of color is old growth birch biome. The leaves could be yellow and renamed to old birch leaves.
