Combining a banner with a piece of armor at a smithing table gives that piece of armor a "team" attribute linked to that banner.
-Only one "team" can be equipped to a player or entity at once. Non-matching team armor won't equip unless existing team armor is removed.
-Players on the same team can get benefits like shared xp from kills.
-Could potentially interact with beacons to give an effect to a specific team rather than every player within range.
-When a hostile mob (skeleton, zombie, piglin) has team armor equipped, they become allied with any player wearing the same team armor. They won't attack players on their team, will remain hostile to other players not on their team, and will become hostile toward any mob on an opposing team, as well as any mob attacking or being attacked by an allied player.
-Holding the team banner in your hand will cause mobs on your team to follow you.
What does this add to minecraft?
-Role-playing opportunities including base-defense and army-building.
-An ally during exploration, similar to a tamed wolf.
-Players on opposing teams could lead armies to battle against each other.
-Immersion and world-building: allows for hostile mobs to be deliberately placed in a given location that won't attack the player.
