Villager Requests
Villagers could occasionally ask players for help. These wouldn't be mandatory quests, but optional favors that offer rewards and make the village feel alive. Requests could be given by a villager with a similar menu to trading.
Examples include:
- Build a new house for incoming villagers.
- Construct a blacksmith or workshop.
- Expand farmland or irrigation.
- Build a watchtower or defensive walls.
Villagers could mark a suggested build location, leaving the design entirely up to the player. Once the structure meets certain requirements (beds, doors, workstations, dimensions, etc.), villagers would recognize it and begin using it.
Resource Requests
Villagers could also ask for supplies depending on the village's needs.
Examples:
- Wood, stone, or logs for expansion.
- Iron for tools.
- Armor or weapons to defend against raids.
- Seeds or crops to expand farms.
Fulfilling requests could improve the village's prosperity and reward players with emeralds, discounts, reputation, or unique gifts.
A Living Village
Instead of remaining unchanged forever, villages could slowly develop.
As players help:
- New villagers move in.
- New buildings appear over time.
- Farms become larger.
- Decorative details increase.
- Roads improve.
- Animals populate new pens.
Village Reputation
Helping with requests, trading fairly, defending the village, and contributing resources would increase your standing.
Higher reputation might unlock:
- Better trades.
- Larger request projects.
- Decorative gifts.
- Villagers greeting the player differently.
