We have such an abundant amount of food in the world, and many of this ties to variations in species.
The main idea:
Make farming and cooking more diverse.
HOW?
1. Add more crops that can be used in recipes: this brings more cosy game play for those that love to farm and cook meals, open restaurants in game and grow beautiful farms. Examples, tomatoes, citrus', cellery, leek, onion, strawberries,
2. Spices & herbs could also be a crop, cinnamon bark, ginger, basil, lemongrass, turmeric, cumin - these can be for more in-depth foods.
3. Cooking station or cookbook for more advanced foods: allows for players to eat normal MC food as they see fit, or get more nitty gritty with it and create beautiful new food combinations which they gain by picking up ingredients while holding their cookbook.
4. Crop variations: pumpkins in different sizes and shapes, grains expand beyond wheat (oats, quinoa, barley).
5. Better exploration: The new varietals can be found in specific biomes, traded by villagers, found in old delapidated greenhouses. Maybe some even need to be grown under glass with direct sunlight.
