The inventory is way to small and should be larger.
In my survival world I have been making a bamboo farm around a 1000 blocks away from my base. I do not have enough space in the inventory, so obviously I brought stuff to build it in many shulker boxes. I made a little platform with the boxes and started building a tower of small bamboo farms piled on top of each other.
As I was building it I had to do MANY back and forth to the shulker box platform to refill on supply. And as the tower grew so did the time of each travel.
It made realize that shulker boxes are a great way to help deal with the small inventory but that they are not enough. The moment you want to build something bigger than a small house you have to spend almost as long in your shulker boxes as you do building.
The bamboo farm I built did not require to many different type of blocks so it was fairly manageable. But for redstone construction demanding a large variety of building blocks (even for fairly small ones), then yes you spend more time looking in your shulker boxes than you do building.
So i propose that 9 slots(a minimum) are added to the base inventory, instead of 3*9 slots + hotbar, let's make it 4*9 slots.
In my opinion chests, shulkerboxes, and ender chests should also be made bigger, but I'm not going to ask for the moon here.
