I play long-term Hardcore worlds on Bedrock Edition, and I sincerely ask Mojang to add a separate experimental switch called "Java Melee Combat", which is turned off by default.
If enabled, the game will add attack cooldown and Sweeping Edge enchantment I/II/III, following the same durability rule as Java: one sweep only costs 1 sword durability even when hitting multiple mobs.
My biggest trouble in Hardcore mode:
Without Sweeping Edge, fighting swarms of piglins, zombies and illagers wastes tons of sword durability. Hardcore players can’t risk losing our full-enchanted sword easily, and getting surrounded by mobs means instant death with no second chance. I can’t craft my dream sword with Sharpness V, Unbreaking III, Mending, Looting III, Fire Aspect II, Knockback II and Sweeping Edge III in vanilla Bedrock now.
This experimental toggle is a perfect compromise:
Touchscreen and console casual players can keep the original fast combat without any change, while Hardcore PvE players can turn on this feature freely, no add-ons needed.
I hope this feature can be launched on June 1 Children’s Day as a surprise gift for all young Minecraft players. Many kids will grow up and start working in a decade, we don’t want to wait 10 or 15 years to enjoy complete sweeping sword gameplay in vanilla. Please take this request into consideration, thank you!
