A simple ruined structure could generate above a Trial Chamber's entrance: a collapsed staircase that descends only a few blocks before being blocked by rubble and debris. It could be made of oxidized copper, tuff, and tuff stairs. It wouldn't necessarily connect directly to the structure; its purpose would simply be to hint at its location from the surface, similar to how azalea trees naturally point players toward lush caves.
I personally love Trial Chambers, but I feel they're too difficult to discover naturally in vanilla Minecraft for what I consider an early- to mid-game structure.
The ruin doesn't need to be large or obvious—just noticeable enough for observant players to realize that something lies beneath the surface. This would allow explorers to discover Trial Chambers naturally, and if they're curious enough to dig down, they'd be rewarded by finding one.
I think this would be a great example of environmental storytelling, allowing the world itself to guide players toward hidden structures instead of encouraging them to rely on a Cartographer's map.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a nice day! <3
