The introduction of Biological Soil would be a perfect addition to the game, falling within the core themes of education within the game, as well as further fleshing out the much needed desert biomes. Biological Soil can in game, much like the real world, help to transform the desert, only if we take care of it. These dense colonies of bacteria, algae, moss and much more, act as desert sponges, storing what little moister the desert gets, allowing for plants, and animals to thrive in these harsh environments. However accidentally stepping on these living wonders can damage 50 years or more of slow growth. In the game, biological soils may act like a natural crop or mushroom, taking long times to grow, maybe growing in stages, eventually spreading out across sand blocks, like a naturally occurring bonemeal. This soil can then allow for plants that could normally only be planted on dirt to instead survive on this sand. However if walked across this soils will crush back to its first stage or completely back to just a sand block. This will serve as motivation for players to protect the soil, and avoiding walking across it, similar to jumping on farm land or walking over turtle eggs. Education and conservation are one of Minecraft’s primary pillars. Biological soil, Cyanobacteria, are an essential but fragile aspect of our real world deserts. The introduction to the game would help to educate players on this fascinating occurrence, and encourage caution in the real world.
