Hello Minecraft team,
I have an idea for a simple cooking expansion that fits vanilla survival gameplay while adding more depth to food preparation.
New Block: Cooking Pot
Crafting recipe:
e e e
i e i
i i i
(e = empty, i = iron ingot)
The Cooking Pot is placed on a working heat source such as a furnace, smoker, or campfire.
Egg Cooking System
Dry cooking (no water added):
- Short time cooking → basic cooked egg / simple result
- 1–2 minutes → Omelette (+7 hunger, small saturation boost)
- 4+ minutes → Burnt Omelette (+2 hunger, chance of nausea)
Water cooking (using water bottle in pot):
- <2 minutes → Egg returns (not cooked)
- 3–4 minutes → Runny Egg
- 5–7 minutes → Boiled Egg
- 8+ minutes → Hard Boiled Egg
Each stage gives different hunger and saturation benefits, with longer cooking producing more stable food.
Salt System
- Filling a bottle in the ocean gives a “Salt Water Bottle”
- Heating it in a furnace returns an empty bottle + Salt item
Salt can be used to:
- Improve food (meat and egg dishes give +1 to +2 hunger boost)
- Add a small survival cooking upgrade
Why this fits Minecraft
- Uses existing mechanics (furnaces, water bottles, food system)
- Adds progression to cooking without overcomplicating survival
- Encourages timing and risk/reward gameplay
- Feels like a natural vanilla expansion
Thank you for reading my suggestion!
